Black-white figure in high resolution was received from M. Alan Jenkins with the following his comments:

It is of a Northern Persian falconer, but what interested me was the falconry drum (near the falconer's knee. I have seen one or two of these offered on eBay but, because I had not read of such a thing, I doubted that there was such a device. Evidently they were used to flush prey for the falcon. The reference for the figure is page 269 of one of at least four volumes entitled Illustrated Travels, edited by H. W. Bates, ca. 1880.
